Optional additional vegetables, such as Turnips, Potatoes, Sweet Potatoes, Rutabagas, etc.
Salt and Pepper to taste
1/2 – 1 cup Heavy Cream or Half and Half
Will reminded me about this one after I sent out the email this week, we love this special (not everyday) dish!
- Wash, trim and slice Kohlrabi and Vidalia Onion very thinly (a mandolin works well for this). Note: you can add other Vegetables if you like, we have also used Turnips, Potatoes, Sweet Potatoes and Rutabagas.
- Layer Sliced Vegetables in a buttered baking dish sprinkling each layer with a little bit of flour, grated cheese, salt and pepper. Top last layer with cheese.
- Drizzle top with 1/2 – 1 cup Heavy Cream or Half and Half, use less for a small dish and more for a larger dish. Cream will soak down into the layers. Cover with lid or foil.
- Bake at 350 degrees for 30-45 minutes until bubbly. Remove cover and brown top. Allow to rest for 10 minutes before serving.
